Custom Embroidered Hats in Canada: Who to Order From

Search "custom hats Canada no minimum" and the only "top hat makers in Canada" list on Google's first page was written by a California pin company that ranks itself number one. So we read the Canadian shops' own pricing and production pages instead, and wrote down what each one actually says.

Here's who to order from for five hats, for fifty, and for a logo, with the prices and wait times in their own words. We sell embroidered hats too, so our row is in the table, along with the jobs we're the wrong shop for.

The short answer. For 1 to 12 hats with a name or a few words, use a no-minimum shop and keep it to text. LAMOSE stitches those in Calgary for $32 a hat. For a detailed logo on 24 or more, use an embroidery shop that prices by stitch count. T-Shirt Elephant quotes about $15 to $25 a hat at 12 to 24.

Every figure below comes from the company's own website, checked on September 30, 2026. Where a shop doesn't publish a number, the table says so rather than guessing.

Two notes on reading the table. GS-JJ's C$6.77 is its lowest trucker price, and the page doesn't say it includes embroidery. And T-Shirt Elephant's $15 to $25 is its own estimate for "a standard logo on a mid-range blank", not a fixed price.

Our take: text for a few hats, stitch count for a logo

A hat with a name on it gets worn. A hat with a slightly fuzzy logo goes in the closet.

Embroidery is priced by stitches, and a logo is a lot of stitches. T-Shirt Elephant puts it well: "a small text-only logo might be 5,000 stitches, while a large, detailed emblem could be 15,000+. More stitches mean more time on the machine and higher cost per hat." Somebody also has to turn your logo file into stitches, which is the digitizing step, and that setup is the same whether you order 6 hats or 60.

So the choice mostly makes itself. For a handful of hats, keep the design to words: a name, a job title, a team, an inside joke. Text is fast to proof and cheap to stitch, and a name reads from across the room. For a logo on two dozen hats or more, go to a shop that quotes by stitch count and shows price breaks, and let the setup spread across the whole run.

Where LAMOSE fits, and where it doesn't

• Good fit: one hat for a gift, or a dozen with a different name or title on each. There's no minimum, so the first hat costs what the twelfth does.

Four questions to ask any hat shop before you pay

1. Is digitizing included? T-Shirt Elephant says it's "typically included", and that reorders reuse the same file with no new setup fee. Embroidery Classics asks for art setup to be prepaid. Ask, and get it in writing.
2. Will I see a proof, and what kind? T-Shirt Elephant, Coastal Reign and LAMOSE send a free digital proof. A photo of a real test stitch-out may cost extra (Embroidery Classics says so), and it's worth paying for on a big logo run.
3. Is the embroidery done in-house? T-Shirt Elephant, Embroidery Classics and Coastal Reign all say theirs is. GS-JJ says it works "with experienced manufacturers", which describes a partner doing the stitching, not its own machines.
4. What's the real date? Production clocks start after proof approval, not at checkout. In Calgary, Embroidery Classics warns that pre-Stampede and pre-Christmas orders stretch to 2 to 3 weeks.

How much should a custom embroidered hat cost?

In Canada, expect about $15 to $25 a hat for a standard logo at 12 to 24 hats, per T-Shirt Elephant's own estimate. Single hats cost more because setup isn't shared. LAMOSE's text hats are $32 each with no minimum. Big, detailed logos cost more, because embroidery is priced by stitch count.

Where can I order custom embroidered hats in Canada?

From an online shop with no minimum (Vistaprint Canada, Coastal Reign, GS-JJ, LAMOSE), or from a local embroidery shop that quotes by stitch count, like Embroidery Classics in Calgary or T-Shirt Elephant in North York. Pick online for a few hats with text, and a stitch-count shop for a logo on 24 or more.

How do I get my hat embroidered?

Send the shop your text or logo file, pick a hat style and colour, and approve a proof. Logos get digitized into a stitch file first. Production starts after you approve, and runs from 5 business days to about two weeks at the shops compared here.

How are embroidery prices calculated?

By quantity and stitch count. A small text line might be around 5,000 stitches, and a large detailed emblem 15,000 or more, according to T-Shirt Elephant. Add digitizing for logos, which some shops include and some charge up front.

Is there a minimum order for custom hats in Canada?

Not always. Coastal Reign, Vistaprint Canada, GS-JJ and LAMOSE list no minimum. T-Shirt Elephant has no minimum on select styles. Embroidery Classics accepts fewer than 12 at a higher price, with a $45 minimum invoice.
