China supplied 96% of US vacuum-flask imports in 2024 (Sherwood News, April 2025), YETI and Stanley included, because that's where the equipment for double-wall vacuum steel is.
Here's what that means when you're buying for a "Buy Canadian" program: "designed in Canada" is accurate, "supporting a Canadian business" is accurate, but "made in Canada" usually isn't, no matter whose name is on the cup.

What to look for in a Canadian travel mug
Ignore the marketing and check four things.
- The lid. A slide-lock or sealed flip lid survives a bag. An open-rim lid is fine for a desk and leaks the moment it tips. Match the lid to where the cup lives.
