Our take: under 25 pieces, put a name on every cup
A logo tells people who paid. A name tells them it's theirs.
Branded cups already get kept more than most giveaways. In ASI's 2026 Ad Impressions Study, 87% of people who got a branded cup or bottle kept it because it was useful. A name adds the part a logo can't: nobody takes it home by mistake, and nobody hands it to someone else next year.
On a small order, the name costs nothing extra with us. The text is free whether all twelve cups say the same thing or twelve different things. Send the list with your order or quote request and each name goes on its own cup.
Past about 25 pieces, a shared logo starts to make sense on its own. It's faster to proof, and bulk runs are where a single design earns its keep. You can also do both: the logo on one side, the name on the other.
Where to get a custom tumbler in Canada: four kinds of seller
Search "personalized tumblers Canada" and you'll get four kinds of seller mixed together. Each one is right for somebody. Here's how we'd sort them, with the question to ask each one before you pay.

A note on "made in Canada", since it comes up in almost every quote request. Our steel bodies come from a specialist supplier overseas. The engraving, the proof, the packing and the shipping happen in our Calgary workshop. We haven't found a vacuum-insulated steel tumbler made start to finish in Canada, and we'd be wary of any seller who says theirs is without explaining how.
The one thing to check on the proof
Laser engraving cuts through the powder coat and shows the bare steel underneath. That makes it permanent. It also means the mark is always steel-coloured, so the colour of the cup decides how much it stands out.
On a dark cup like Onyx, silver steel reads from across a room. On Snow or a pale pastel, it's quieter. One of our Etsy customers put it plainly in a 3-star review last month: "Hard to see engraving. My fault maybe for not understanding listing or proof correctly." That's on us to explain better, so here it is. If you want the name to be the first thing people see, pick a darker colour.
The proof is where you catch the rest. Another customer wrote: "they emailed me what the image would look like before starting customizing. I want happy with the font, it looked squished. and they helped me pick the right font." Look at the proof at the size it'll be on the cup, not zoomed in on your screen. Long names in script fonts are the usual thing to fix.
How long it takes
- Personalized orders: a digital proof within 24 hours, then 1 to 3 business days of engraving, then Canada Post or UPS.
- Corporate runs of 25 or more: an artwork proof, then 5 to 10 business days on the laser, then transit.

Yes. The laser removes the powder coat and exposes the steel, so there's no ink or decal to peel or wash off. It is always steel-coloured, so it stands out most on darker cups.
