A 24 oz cup holds 710 mL. That's three 8 oz cups of coffee, or the size Tim Hortons calls extra large: Tim's added the 24 oz size across Canada in January 2012, when the old 20 oz extra large became the large.

How big it looks in your hand is another question, and the ounces won't answer it. Our 24 oz mug is 15.2 cm tall. Our 20 oz tumbler is 23.9 cm. The smaller cup is the taller one, by almost 9 cm, and that's what decides whether it fits your cupholder.

Read the width column before the ounces. Every Hudson Pro Max is 10.1 cm wide with a handle on the side, so it lives on a desk. The Grouse 20 is 7 cm, and its product page says it fits standard car and desk cupholders. If your coffee rides in the car, that's the size to look at, even though it holds less.

Who a 24 oz mug is for
