Why the screen-printed gym bottle fails first

A screen-printed logo sits on top of the steel, not in it. It survives a few hand washes fine. What kills it is the actual life of a gym bottle: stuffed in a bag next to keys and dumbbells, dropped on rubber flooring, run through a dishwasher because nobody wants to hand-wash a water bottle every night. The print cracks along its edges first, then flakes, and a bottle with a half-peeled logo doesn't get carried to the front desk to complain — it just gets replaced by whatever bottle the member already owns.

Engraving doesn't have that failure mode because there's nothing sitting on the surface to peel. The laser cuts through the coating into the steel itself. It's the same reason a name tag lasts and a name sticker doesn't.

Shared design vs. personalized — the actual difference

A bulk order of one design solves the studio's problem (branding, fast, cheap per unit). It doesn't solve the member's problem, which is that a bottle with someone else's logo and no personal stake in it competes with every other bottle they already own.
