The Hudson's body is 18/8 stainless steel (double-wall vacuum insulated), but the interior is coated with a ceramic lining — similar to the YETI Rambler ceramic line. What is a ceramic interior coating?
The inside of the mug is coated with a food-grade ceramic layer. Ceramic is chemically inert — it doesn't react with coffee, tea, or acidic drinks, and it doesn't release any metallic flavor into your drink. It's the same material used in high-end cookware for a reason: it doesn't interfere with what you put in it.
Is the ceramic interior scratch resistant?
The ceramic coating is durable under normal daily use — metal spoons, stirring, regular cleaning with a brush. It's not indestructible: dropping the mug hard onto a ceramic tile can chip it, just like any ceramic surface. For best results, hand-wash is gentlest, though the mug is technically top-rack dishwasher safe.
